Sushi Hotaru, Sydney CBD

In the space that previously accommodated a small Japan City with a slow trickle of customers, a cosy sushi train now travels the length of the newly opened restaurant. Passengers can sit on stools high off the ground or teeny booths that fit four very small people squished up against one another whilst ordering from either friendly staff or the iPad’s acting as TV screens where available.

I love the amount of food here. There’s a huge variety of dishes; there are plenty of different types of nigiri, sashimi, sushi rolls, hand cut rolls, ships and then, there are side dishes such as takoyaki and chicken karaage. If you’re still hungry and have a hankering for a real big meal, there’s also bowls of teriyaki chicken with rice and miso or there’s bowls of ramen topped with all sorts of tempura.

The food is freshly prepared in front of you, the food service is efficient and the quality is good too. I think the best part of it all is that all sushi and all side dishes are only $3 each which allows you to forget how the extremely high stack of sushi plates will affect your wallet.
